a few ideas for the next book
Hi Just had a look at tescos book list and these are a few of the ones i am interested in. Mainly chicklit which is norm BabyproofEver since their first date, when they discovered neither of them wanted children, Claudia and Ben's relationship seemed destined to succeed. They envisaged a life filled with freedom, possibility and exploration and their married life starts out exactly that way. But things don't always stay the same. When Ben's best friend and his wife announce they are having a baby, suddenly Ben changes his mind. He realises he does want children after all. But Claudia hasn't changed - and now she finds herself facing the most difficult decision of her life... Momzillas If you thought Wall Street was cut-throat, wait till to you meet the Kelly bag-toting, Chanel-wearing, Bugaboo-pushing mothers of New York's Upper East Side! 'AFFLUENZA: malaise of the extremely wealthy; symptoms include panic over which color Bugaboo to buy and night sweats about which $15,000 pre-pre-school to apply to.' Hannah adores her husband Josh, so when he gets offered a fabulous job in Manhattan, she's happy to abandon their cozy West Coast life for the social whirl of the Big Apple. But motherhood in Manhattan is a whole different ball-game -- in fact, for the bored and pampered women of New York's wealthiest families, it's practically an Olympic sport. In a world where who you know and how you look is everything, Hannah finds herself adrift in a sea of 'Reximoms (mothers who drop the baby weight in two weeks or less), Nannyjackers (mothers who try to steal other people's nannies) and Momsicles (cold-hearted mothers who never cuddle their kids). Suddenly loving her family isn't enough -- Hannah just can't seem to measure up. And with Josh working longer and longer hours, her quest to fit in -- whether it's getting her daughter into the city's top nursery or finding the perfect apartment -- is increasingly lonely. So when an old flame re-enters her life, who can blame her for wondering what might have been? But as old passions are rekindled, Hannah finds herself increasingly torn between a life of happily married motherhood and the murky moral state in which her wealthy friends seem to live. And when her marriage begins to feel the strain, she will have to learn to fight for what it is she really wants in this brilliantly funny novel about love, motherhood and staying sane! Mercy Cameron MacDonald has spent his life guided by duty. As the police chief of a small Massachusetts town that has been home to generations of his Scottish clan, he is bound to the town's residents by blood and honor. Yet when his cousin Jamie arrives at the police station with the body of his wife and the bald confession that he's killed her, Cam immediately places him under arrest. The situation isn't as clear to Cam's wife, Allie. While she is devoted to her husband, she finds herself siding against Cam, seduced by the picture James paints of a man so in love with a woman that he'd grant all her wishes! even the one that meant taking her life. Into this charged atmosphere drifts Mia, a new assistant at Allie's floral shop, for whom Cam feels an instant and inexplicable attraction. While he aids the prosecution in preparing the case against Jamie, who killed his terminally ill wife out of mercy, Cam finds himself betraying his own wife Chocolate Lovers ClubThe Chocolate Lovers' Club brings together four very different women with one thing in common: they can't resist chocolate. This is an irresistible novel for anyone who wishes they were a member! Lucy Lombard can't resist it - rich, creamy, sweet, delicious chocolate. For her there's nothing it won't cure and she's not alone. Sharing her passion are three other addicts: Autumn, Nadia and Chantal. Together they form The Chocolate Lovers' Club. They meet in their sanctuary, Chocolate Heaven, as often as they can, and with a cheating boyfriend who promises he'll change, a flirtatious boss, a gambling husband and a loveless marriage, there's always plenty to discuss! Do any of these appeal? If not, i will read them outside of the book club Shona.x

Hi, I vote for Babyproof, as when i bought 'Marley and me' at tesco it was 2 for £7 so I got it then, have not started it yet though. But I will go with what the majority say. Elaine, Helena and Mackenzie.

Babyproof sounds interesting, small request though.. if we go for a parenting based one this time, could we go for a non parenting based one next time.. (I find reading is part of my time to escape from being Mummy) Please don't shout at me for saying that, but feel free to totally disregard it. Jen x

Really quite varied, anything from chicklit to murder mystery, I am going to buy and read the new ian rankin book but am aware that police/murder type books aren't everyones cup of tea! You do such a great job posting the synopsis of the books, it is fab to be able to see a little more about them before deciding. Anyway, off to put alexander to bed for his nap. Jen x
