Advice needed on OPKs
If you've read my post today as Blogger 1, you'll know that I've just done my first ever ovulation -*test*-('"). I now have some questions, and I've done a search on this forum and can't immediately find the answers. I know there are a few POAS experts here... I was in a hurry, and bought the Clearblue Digital OPK, because it only cost a few pence more. However, having read some threads on the subject, it sounds like you can detect faint increases of LH on 'ordinary' -*test*-('") sticks. Should I have bought these instead? Can I look at the digital -*test*-('") stick once it's been taken out of the digital reader, and detect anything from it? I remember reading somewhere on this forum that the best time of day to detect your LH surge is in the afternoon? Is this right? I -*test*-('")ed at 1.30 today, and need to -*test*-('") some time tomorrow, and again first thing on Friday (before IUI). It says not to urinate for 4 hours before doing your -*test*-('") - this would be so hard for me - does it have to be strictly adhered to? That's all my questions for now! Thank you ladies! Rosie x

I just posted another Q about OPK's and PCOS!!! Timing! Well, I thought you were supposed to POAS first thing in the morning?! And since you're PCOS too I'm not sure OPK's will work for you. Watch the replies to my post! ;)

I think you're supposed to POAS for pregnancy -*test*-('") first thing in the morning, but I definitely read somewhere that you often have your LH surge in the afternoon, and therefore if you only -*test*-('") in the mornings you might miss it. However, when you compare that theory with the knowledge that POAS first thing in the morning is always your most concentrated wee, maybe morning is best. Let's hope someone can help us!! Rosie x

Hi hun! Ive posted somewhere about this before but couldn't find it! Anyway, you might find this site useful: http://www.peeonastick.com/hpt/digitalsecret.html yes you should poas afternoon for opk's because remember an opk is only a snapshot at that moment of your lh surge. It doesnt tell you which end of the window you're at so you might be at the beginning of a surge or equally have already ov'd and be at the decline of the surge. This is why I love CB digis because there is NO mistaking ov!! I have also rodered the cheapy internet strips (they really are pretty crap in my opinion as they cause more ambiguity than certainty) because a) im a poas addict and b) i like to see my surge build so i know when to open the cb digis? They are handy to have in the house if like me you cant wait until the day you think you are ready and also, using the cheapies i was in fact able to pinpoint (over several cycles) wexactly when ie time of day that i ov!! I used to get pos cb opks on an afternoon -*test*-('") but i found out that i actually ov during the night. They are so cheap you can pee on them daily, several times a day lol! Then pick up your digis as the lines get stronger - cheaper and accurate. Also your pos opk result usually determines you will ovulate i the next 48 hrs but each of us is different and for me i seem to ov very close to getting my pos!!
