After work/nursery melt down
My LO is 17 months old, goes to nursery 3 days a week and loves it. But I find that when I pick her up and bring her home we have lots of crying until its bath and bed time. I think she is just tired from a busy day and just wants to chill out but she can't seem to. Trouble is, I've had a busy day too so find it hard to deal with her when she's like this. Any ideas on what to do to occupy her for the 2 hrs or so before bath? She doesn't seem content to just play with her toys as she does when we are home on non nursery days.. HELP! Lemoney

I had this when Habbie first started nursery - far too exciting I think!! lol I found the only way to keep him from crying was to distract with lots of 1:1 playing, reading books, singing - hard work, but stops the crying...I was ready for bed at the same time as he was though lol.

I get this too. After something to eat they seem to calm down. Hunger, thirsty, tired, missing you. Is what I think is the cause. I normally just sort out something to eat and drink then sit with them and the telly on until the wander off to get some toys. Not an easy one and Bea has mostly grown out of it, although she does love to sit on me. Not easy when I am trying to sort out tea and console Matthew who is crying. Hope it gets better soon.

I have pinpointed our meltdowns to extreme thirst and have raised it with the nursery. They reckon he is drinking loads but when I took a cup of very diluted juice in on Monday they noticed how much he enjoys drinking his juice as opposed to just sipping the water on a needs must basis. I now take juice in for him which is drained and a cup in the car for the long 3 minute journey home! It is usually finished by the time we get home. x
