Aimee Natasha Lloyd
Hi Girls,
She's here!! She is soooooooooooo lovely and I'm completely in love!!
I'll give you a brief birth story while she's having a little kip!
As you know I went in for my induction at 8am on Thurs but didn't get into the labour room until 9am. There was a lot of waiting around and at about 11am the doc came in and broke the rest of my waters. We then waited for any movement and although I was getting little contractions they weren't regular so they hooked up the drip at 1pm. Contractions started coming thick and fast and by 4pm I was in so much pain but felt as if I wasn't getting anywhere because although they were strong contractions they were totally irregular - 2 mins, then 5 mins, then 3 mins, 5 mins, 2mins etc etc!! I was losing hope and getting tired and frustrated - at one point I almost asked for a caesarian which is silly but god knows what was going through my mind! I asked for gas and air but she didn't want me to have any as she thought it was early days and that the gas and air would make me too tired.
At 5pm I had an examination and was surprised to hear - so was the midwife - that I was 7cm dilated!! She went through pain relief and I asked for an epidural. 20mins later after a lot more painful contractions the kit was brought in for the epidural but by then I said I could feel the baby coming out!!! She said theres no way you'll be able to sit still for this and I think we should go on without it. So I did and amazingly started pushing pretty soon after that at about 6:30pm. I really thought the pushing bit would be the most painful but was surprised that it really wasn't - just totally exhausting!! By 7:45 the head was almost out but kept slipping back and they decided to do a cut - episopimy or whatever its called!! They got the old scissors ready and on the last push cut me open and Aimee was born!!
My husband was a real star - he held my legs with the midwife to help me push and was encouraging me on - he even cut the cord. He gave me little presents at the beginning bit of the labour which made me cry!!
I was really proud of myself in the end. At the beginning when she attached the drip to induce the midwife said I would probably need an epidural as this would be the most intense kind of labour. And although I admit I asked for one I managed to get through the whole thing with just a bit of gas and air at the end! They were also shocked by how quickly it went - apparently normally labours take longer when induced.
So spent 2 nights in hospital due to trouble with feeding and because they needed to observe us as my waters broke before the onset of labour.
Back home now which is truely surreal!! My body doesn't feel my own - still in pain with my stitches and my nipples are on fire!! Cracked and bloody. I know I'm getting the latching on right as midwives watched me several times but that doesn't seem to matter. Its so painful but must perseve with the use of Lansinol cream!
Hope everyone is okay - Mrs LJ - are you still here?
Lots of love xxxx
