All this talk of Tilly's wedding
Has made me think back to ours and some of the things we did.
As one of our Hymns in the church , we had 'Wonder of you' by Elvis!! Everyone loved it! The vicar had just finished the prayers "Amen, Now lets sing some Elvis"! The chapel errupted!!! lol
We choreographed a cheesy first dance!!
We wrote place names on pebbles.
We used empty wine bottles, made our own labels and then the table name cards were held in the cork.
We hung seating arrangements on a twisted willow tree.
it sounds so romantic! ours is going to be sooo crappy! my family are crap at social occassions, and because robs are the age of dinosaurs, theyre not going to be bopping to the christmas carols at the reception. we'll be lucky if they dont fall asleep during the ceremony!
what a lovely vicar you had! he sounds great!
He was ace. He was the vicar at the school my Mum worked at and he christened Freya and did Mums funeral and memorial services. When we had the idea of singing Elvis, we were a bit nervous of asking him, but he said as long as we dont loose focus of the reasons, we are there, he was all for it.....he said the words were perfect so had no issue.
Yours IS NOT going to be crappy at all. As long as you and Rob have a fab time, nothing else matters. Its your day, and don't worry about anyone else. Hey, we'll all come and dance the night away to Carols......
Aw, sounds lovely nicki!
For ours, we had a string quartet play the Simpsons theme tune while we signed the register which made everyone chuckle (for those who are my friends on FB you'll know why we picked that!)
We then had the Indiana Jones them tune as we walked out (DHs choice - he said it was the start of our big adventure together :) )
Our place names which I made were little tea lights with names on
Every table had a picture that I had drawn instead of a table number or name
The menus that I made had pictures of DH and I as children as the background
We ate bangers and mash!
I LOVE weddings.
Tilly, yours will be such a fab day I'm sure. The main thing is to make sure you don't forget its YOUR day, yours and Robs so just sod everyone else and have a ball :)
xxx
Fiona, yours sounds lovely too! Im a wedding lover as well! Would love to do it as a business and spend other peoples money on things I like!!!
We had...
place names written on red baubles (Wedding was on 30/12)
I made a CD up of classical christmas music and carols which was played as guests were mingling before the wedding
mulled wine
Christmassy candle centre pieces for the tables which were also used during the ceremony
a HUUUUUUGE christmas tree in the banqueting hall at the hotel where we had our reception (it was already there - part of their xmas decs!)
snow! (thank you Mother Nature!)
luxury silver crackers as favours
xx
So jealous of your snow!!!!
You wouldn't have been when I was stood out in it in open toed sandals having some pics taken LOL!!
Got to admit though, the 'snowball fight' wedding pics are my favourite ones!!
xx
True! We were freezing - poor Freya was in tears where she was so cold! We did think about fake snow, but decided that would be a bit much considering there werent many children there!
