Anterior placenta and big 2nd babies?
Not related of course but 2 seperate questions!
Apparently i have an anterior placenta, it means its at the front of my tummy so they said i would not feel as much movement. I am getting quite a lot of movement at the moment, has anyone else had this? Does this mean i can sleep on my back more if the baby cannot lie on the placenta and chord?
Also, this will be my 2nd boy, Olly was 8lb12, i am now starting to worry this baby might be even bigger as apparently they are supposed to get bigger, is this the case with you?
Silly questions i know, sorry!!
xx
I had an anterior placenta and as far as I know, all the recommendations are the same. The reason for not lying on your back is that there is a big vein in your back which may make you pass out if restricted (by the weight of simply being a big ole pregnant bird apparently! - not you specifically that is, generally I mean!!)
They said I might not feel as much movement, but I certainly felt plenty!
Can't advise on the weight thing though sorry.
I had an anterior placenta with Jessica and yes my movements in the area my placenta was were less noticeable but she made up for it by kicking either side of it!!
As for bigger second babies cameron was 1 ounze heavier than Zoe
but it also doenst go the more you have he heavier they get either as Isabelle (my 4th) was 10lb and jessica (5th) was 9 lb
I have an anterior placenta and the midwife was really surprised when I told her that I had started to feel movement from about 16 weeks. It was all low down on the left to begin with and mainly when I sat with my hips flexed. After that like Traceylea it was mainly at the sides until she got bigger and started kicking heck out of my liver !!! I can pretty much guarantee that I'll feel her kicking like mad if I lie on either side.
The advice about lying on your back is more related to your blood supply than bubs. If s/he puts too much pressure on that then you can actually pass out. Not so much fun ! LOL
Thanks, the movement i feel is generally at the sides too, good to hear you have had similar experiences!

Mine notes say Anterior too, but no one has mentioned anything about it to me, I just thought it meant it was normal! LOL Doh! #
I can't help with baby size but I am also panicing, Seph was 9lb 2oz and I struggled with the pushing, I can't imagine getting a baby out that is bigger than that! Terrified is probably the word I'd use!!
Sallymonge- its not a problem but the midwife made a point of it because it can stop you from feeling the baby move as much, but as everyone has said they can still feel the movements ok anyway. Probably an over cautious midwife LOL! Fingers crossed for smaller babies!
