b - I stopped just after Christmas so Ben was more or less one. I was going to carry on while he was still using bottles but I just couldn't wait to reclaim that corner of the work surface!

Can someone post a link to where it says you can stop steralising at 6 months. I'm not doubting any of you, just a little nervous about doing it, not sure why as Brandon eats out of the dirty cat food bowl every day ( I know, I try to stop him but I swear he has an implant in his head that goes off when Rachel leaves the stairgate open). I've just done a google search and all I can find is threads on other forums similar to this. It would make my DH's day if he came home and found it missing . Sharon

I have never sterilised Jess's bottles but then I only started using them when she was about 8 months old! They get rinsed in soapy water in the day, and then put through the dishwasher at night. They havent turned orange for us, as we rinse our plates etc before putting them in the dishwasher and that stops them turning everything else orange.

BTW, the cold water sterliser I have can also be a steam one in the microwave. It was about £20 and included 3 or 4 tommee tippee bottles. This is the one I have and I LOVE it so much easier than any electric one I have seen only down side is if you use it in microwave you can only do 4 at a time but I just use it with the sterilzing liquid and I can squeeze 6 bottles in it!!!!!!!!!

no offence intended to mummys who have only had one baby or those who sterilise everything religiously but with zoe I sterilized EVERYTHING til she was 18 months old cameron it was EVERYTHING till he was a year old Joanna it was bottles till she was 8 months old dumys if they dropped on the floor got rinsed under tap or in my mouth depending where I was at the time Isabelle nothing got sterlised as I bf till she was 8 months old And Jessica same with dummys as Joanna and I will prob sterilse till she is about 7 or 8 months I think your woory of cleanlyness isnt as strong after 1 or 2 babies and I have noticed it in loads of places tbh The was I see it is if they chew on stuff what is the point in it?? You cant clean everythin they touch there is no way you can
