KJB I am so so sorry to read your news this morning. I think the girls have pretty much answered your questions but my no 1 piece of advice would be to see your GP asap to get answers to your questions and to ensure someone medically is looking after your needs over the next few days/weeks. Call NHS Direct if you have to - I found them amazing in my hour of need. From exeprience: 1) an external scan can provide some answers depending on how hi-tech the equipment is. However, often this early it is not as clear an image as the internal scan, so it is possible they have missed something. 2) your urine -*test*-('") should still have produced a positive, despite drinking excess water. However, a simple set of 'beta' bloods should provide you with a definitive answer. Again something to possibly pursue via your GP. 3) Every m/c experience is different. I m/c naturally at 12 wks and it is not an experience I would wish to go thru again. Personally it was painful both mentally and physically. It took a total of 10days once it started. I suffered cramping, passing of clots, dizziness. Opting for an ERPC with my 2nd m/c was the better option. Again, your GP should help you with questions you might have and help you form any decisions. 4) You should not use tampax as they can cause infection. Neither should you take a bath for the same reason. KJB, your pregnancy was not just a bunch of cells and being that 1 in 4 doesn't make it any easier to bare. I hope you have some good friends/family to help support both you and dh during this time. Be kind to yourself - this is noones fault! Much love xxx

Awww kjb, I'm really sorry to hear this - however, if you think you're only 4 weeks then I would say yes, it is too soon to do an external scan and also, at such an early stage there is every chance your wee would be very dilute because of all the water you've been drinking. I guess my advice would be to do another -*test*-('") yourself first thing in the morning when the hcg levels will be at their strongest. Like the others have said, if the worst has happened then its only natural to feel bereft - I had an early m/c before I had Ben and I almost felt guilty for feeling so bad about something that was barely there.... Take one day at a time - and were here if you need us xxx :bighug: Loubie, I did a -*test*-('") this morning which came up BFP but GP says that it's probably just some of the hormone still circulating. He was however shocked at the way I was handled and is ringing the hospital / EPU to find out more. His face said it all when I told him about the other doctor banging on about Clomid. GP wants me to call him in the morning and maybe see about another scan just to put my mind at rest. He was actually really nice about things.

Hi kjb, thanks for updating us, I'm pleased you're GP was being so nice. When I had my early m/c, I got a BFP on the saturday (with a CB digital so there was no mistake) but I was already spotting so went to see the nurse at my GPs on the Monday and she did a urine -*test*-('") which was -ve, and when I got home I waited a few hours and then did a CB digi -*test*-('") myself which came up -ve too. Another scan sounds like a very good idea, just so you know for sure what's going on. :bighug:

Hey, Just read your post and wanted to send big hugs. I just wanted to say that I had what I thought was an early m/c at 4+2 and like you say was trying to brush it off as nothing more than a usual AF, apart from the fact that I had done two -*test*-('")s that had come up with the faint positive line on both. I truly hope that things go well for you, but if it is a m/c then it doesn't matter what stage its at, its still hard and very emotional. I cried all weekend long when it happened to me. Now I have my LO, I realise that that one was not meant to be and it was the next month that I got my BFP. Big hugs to you and let us know how things go

Hi, so very sorry to hear your news and how you were treated, doedn't matter how far on you are, you have laready uilt up a world in your head where your baby exists, they had no right to speak to you like that. I mc started with bleeding at 8 weeks, i opted to do it naturally and have to say its not something i would not do again (heaven forbid it should happen) it was an awful experience and i wasnt prepared for how it would happen, mostly caused by a complication. It last for about ten days and ended up in hospital for 2 days at the end very nearly in theatre. I didnt want to scare you i just think they dont really tell you how it can be. Love to you and all your family x
